About Author

Zuzana Emilie Hahn was born in 1954 in Kladno, Czech Republic. In August of 1968, one day after the Soviet-led invasion of her native country, she immigrated to Canada with her parents and sister via a refugee camp in Germany. She earned an AOCAD degree from the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto in 1980.

Always interested in community work, she expanded her professional career in Graphic Design with other projects. She became a reporter and creator of short films for Czech TV; she actively supported artists and musicians of New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and spearheaded the multicultural initiative to create a Memorial to Victims of Communism in Ottawa.

Now the proud grandmother of Mila, she has returned to her first love – creating children’s books. She makes her home on the shores of the Miskwaa Ziibi River in the Kawartha Region of Ontario, just a “stone’s throw away” from Curve Lake First Nation.
